Course Content and Aims

Whatever your reason for attending a Trade-Ability Tiling course, you won't be disappointed. Our course syllabus is covered in 4 days, if you opt for the weekday course you get an extra day to practice your new skills. You will receive your Trade-Ability certificate with a sense of achievement and pride.Your certificate will outline the completion of the following objectives stated below:

Have an understanding of:

• The use of all tools required in tiling
• Setting out and planning a tiling job.
• How to calculate the quantities of tiles required for the surface area to be covered.
• The correct adhesives used for different tiling surfaces.

Be able to:

• Mix adhesives & grout to achieve the best possible consistency.
• Use confidently, Wet tile cutter, Dry tile cutter, tile scriber, tile nibblers and tile saws.
• Tile borders, diamonds and patterns.
• Cut around windows and reveals
• Cope with difficult areas such as uneven walls.
• Tile around pipes, boxed in pipes, angled walls and socket areas
• Apply grout
• Polish tiles
• Use Silicone Sealant giving a professional finish

 

End of course handouts and a Topps Tiles DVD will be of great use to remind you of the procedures when you start Tiling on your own.

This is a hands on practical course so wear overalls or old clothing in case of that odd spillage and be prepared to have some fun!

Anyone can tile an area but learning how to tile and cut professionally takes practice, patience and time.

This course has been put together so that no previous experience is necessary. It has been designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of tiling whether you are a beginner or someone who has some knowledge and wanting to improve your skills. The course will have no more than six students therefore, can be tailor made to your individual requirements.

Forces Resettlement

50% of our clientele are Service Leavers whom normally carry out multiple courses as part of their Resettlement grant. If you are in your resettlement period, your Standard Learning Credit may also be utilised.

We are ideally located within 30 minutes of many RAF camps in Lincolnshire and fall under a radius of under 50 miles for Army camps around Nottingham and south Yorkshire.
