Trade-Ability - First Aid at Work Course

Welcome to Trade-Ability's 4 day First Aid at Work Course...

How would you cope in an emergency? Try one of our courses and leave us feeling confident in your ability to administer First Aid.

First Aid At Work (FAAW): This is a four-day course certified by the Health and safety Executive.

It complies with the Health and safety at Work Act 1974 and Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981. Where 5 or more people are employed it is a minimum mandatory requirement to provide at least one First Aider. In high-risk areas such as Sports halls, Swimming pools or Building sites, two First Aiders and an Appointed Person is required.

On successful completion of the FAAW course you will receive your approved certificate from the HSE to administer First Aid for 3 years. The syllabus for this course is as follows:

First aid in the work place, rules, regulations and responsibilities.
Action in an emergency. Primary Survey. Air way and Breathing.
Secondary Survey and Recovery position.
CPR.
Airway Obstructions, Choking, Hypoxia, Drowning and Asthma.
Disorders of Circulation.
Disorders of Consciousness.
CPR and EAV Child and Baby.
Wounds and Bleeding.
Poisoning, Bites and Stings.
Burns and Scolds.
Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries.

Candidates will undergo written exams and practical assessments in order to gain certification. Tests are conducted in a relaxed and friendly environment allowing you to concentrate on the correct procedures.

FAAW Refresher: This is a two-day intensive course that covers the above syllabus and re-qualifies your FAAW certificate for a further 3 years.

Appointed Person: A four-hour course centered on Basic Life support procedures conducted in a morning or afternoon. This course is ideal for those whom regularly work with children or the elderly, or those who would simply like the peace of mind of knowing what to do in an emergency. On completion you will be awarded a certificate of attendance. The syllabus for this course is as follows:

First aid in the work place, rules, regulations and responsibilities.
Action in an emergency. Primary Survey. Air way and Breathing.
Secondary Survey and Recovery position.
CPR.
Airway Obstructions, Choking, Hypoxia, Drowning and Asthma.
CPR and EAV Child and Baby.
Overview of other injuries.
